WORShip

Chances are you've never seen anything quite like the worship experience you'll find at Resurrection in the City. We are liturgical in that we have a set agenda for our worship services that is used week after week. Its components are ancient and sacred, but employed in love without rigidity. Our gatherings are also comfortable, in that people dress in a variety of ways, children move and sound like children, and our many and varied visitors are received warmly.

We are a singing congregation. We sing old hymns from hymnals, accompanied on the piano, with a special emphasis on those that flow from and express our African American cultural roots. We’ll also occasionally utilize more modern worship songs and put together a house band with a variety of instruments.

Every Sunday Pastor Duane offers an in-depth, Scripture-based, expository message, incorporating a lot of back-and-forth discussion with the congregation, and engaging participants of all ages. We work through full books of the Bible at a time, from fro front to back, rather than jumping around from one week to the next. Taking a cue from the Gospel-centrality of the early Christian church, we commit ourselves to working through one of the four Gospels - Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John - once every year.

We celebrate The Lord's Supper (or Holy Communion / Eucharist / Mass) every Sunday. If you have any questions please contact Pastor Duane. Otherwise, come join us sometime to be blessed by one another. We absolutely mean it when we say "Everyone is welcome!"
